Hi friends. Thanks to everyone who reached out to me since I sent the first update. I haven't responded to many of you yet because there is a lot going on, but I have read all of your responses and really appreciate your encouragement.
Please pray for some things coming up:
Camille is getting an MRI on Monday.
Please pray that she would be able to handle the MRI: it is 3 hours long and is very loud, so it poses a risk of her symptoms getting worse, given her sound sensitivity (I know that might be hard to understand, but it's how this illness works, sadly). She'll be taking medication to make her sleepy, so hopefully that helps dampen the impact of the sound.
Please pray they find something, and that it is treatable. I am not counting on it finding anything, but there are certain MRI-identifiable issues associated with her symptoms, and it would be wonderful if we found a treatable issue.
We are going to try different pharmaceuticals. Please pray they help. We don't want to get our hopes up for any of them but it would be wonderful if they helped reduce her symptoms.
Oxaloacetate: A non-randomized trial showed promising results in terms of reduced symptoms, generally, so much so that they are currently doing a randomized trial.
Low dose naltrexone: This sometimes reduces people's symptoms, though it can take months before having an impact, which makes it harder to determine what is causing the impact.
Klonopin: Some people have experienced reduced sensory sensitivity after taking low amounts of benzodiazepines frequently for long periods. This is anecdotal (no compelling data), but since it was recommended by a CFS specialist, we'll give it a try.
Camille's symptoms are about the same as when I sent out the last update. We would of course appreciate continued prayer for endurance, encouragement, and joy in the midst of suffering, and also complete recovery!
Thanks!
Chris
